How to safely remove a USB unit when Windows 10 refuses to eject it – a possible solution

Often, external disk units connected via USB cannot be safely removed. Although unplugging anyway the unit should not be a problem, in the case of an external hard disk that keeps spinning, honestly you would prefer not to disconnect it abruptly. Sometimes, the process MsMpEng.exe, related to Windows Defender, is responsible for this, and closing the possibly active handle, associated with the unit to remove, can solve the problem.

Equivalent stress-block for the parabola-rectangular relation

This post reports the analytical calculation of the filling coefficient η and the depth coefficient ξ, which allow the evaluation of modulus and position of the resultant of compressive stresses acting on the concrete of a (rectangular) cross section subjected to simple bending, when a parabola-rectangular stress-strain is adopted. These coefficients multiply either the product of rectangular compressed area and design strength, or the neutral axis depth, respectively. The trend of these parameters is listed and graphically shown in the case of values of strain at the beginning of plateau and ultimate strain respectively equal to 2·10⁻³ e 3.5·10⁻³, which are typically adopted for concrete up to strength class C50/60.
