About me Italian flag

Born in the Province of Venice, I got my high-school diploma from the local Liceo Scientifico, main course focused on PNI (Italian National Information Program), then I graduated in Architectural Engineering (M.Sc.) at the University of Padova (Italy, March 2006). I achieved in Padova (April 2010) a Ph.D. Degree at the School on Study and Preservation of Archaeological and Architectural Heritage, main course on Science and Technologies for Archaeological and Architectural Heritage, discussing the thesis entitled "FRP strengthening of masonry arches: analysis of local mechanisms and global behaviour".

Since 2007 I am a licensed engineer member of the Venice Association of Professional Engineers (n.3889). Included in the academic database of experts in the field of Structures (ICAR/09) since 2007/2008 and in the field of Restoration (ICAR/19) since 2008/2009, I was member of RILEM Technical Committees 223-MSC (Masonry Strengthening with Composite materials), chaired by Prof. M.R. Valluzzi from the University of Padova (Italy), and 250-CSM (Composites for Sustainable strengthening of Masonry), chaired by Prof. G. De Felice from the University of Roma Tre (Italy).

I have been working since June 2006 at the University of Padova, collaborating in various National and European research Projects within the Research Unit headed by Prof. C. Modena of the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering (DICEA). I also volunteered as a technician during the post-earthquake phases in Abruzzo (2009-10), Emilia (2012-13) and Central Italy (2016).

In 2014, 2016 and 2017 I taught at the National Advanced School of Public Works in Yaoundé (Cameroon), giving classes within the Course of Structural Engineering 2 (6 credits) for the students of Civil Engineering, and giving the lectures about Design of Timber and Masonry Structures for the Master "Géotechnique - Conception, Exécution et Contrôle des structures et des fondations" and part of the lectures about Statics and  Basic Design of Reinforced Concrete Members for the Master "Eco-construction et Management des Projets immobiliers en Afrique", in 2014 only.

From 2014 until 2016 I collaborated with the Inter-University Consortium ReLUIS in a joint activity with the Italian National Dep.t of Civil Protection that involved the classification of the seismic assessment of strategic/relevant buildings and infrastructures in the Northern Italian Regions.

Since November 2016 I am a grant holder at the Italian National Research Council (CNR), ICMATE Institute, within the framework of the European Project H2020 InnoWEE - Innovative pre-fabricated components including different waste construction materials reducing building energy and minimising environmental impacts, for the development of components for ETICS, radiant panels and ventilated façades, made of geopolymer materials embedding CDW (Construction and Demolition Waste).

My main interests involve both experimental (laboratory and on-site) and analytical activities related to evaluation of vulnerability of masonry buildings, behaviour of masonry structures and strengthening techniques for masonry restoration, particularly by means of innovative materials.

Co-author of more than forty publications and co-tutor of about thirty M.Sc. Theses in Civil and Architectural Engineering, I took part as a speaker in several International Conferences and have given occasional lectures within the Master Courses of Structural Problems of Historical Monuments, Restoration, Constructive and Static Principles of Historical Architecture, Strengthening Techniques and Inspection and Diagnosis applied to Historical Buildings. I am a reviewer for ASCE Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering and RILEM Materials and Structures since 2013, and for Engineering Structures since 2015. I was a grant holder at the University of Padova until April 2014, but I went on collaborating until 2016 with the Dept. ICEA for experimental researches and management of research project.
